WHILE THE BRITISH tabloids seem determined to create a scandal involving former One Direction singer Liam Payne, his girlfriend, former Girls Aloud member Cheryl Tweedy and one of Payne's backing dancers Chloe Ferns, the musician didn't allow speculation to interfere with his Global Village performance on Friday night, which attracted over 110,000 guests to the park. Going through the motions with hits including Bedroom Floor, Strip That Down and a cover of Charlie Puth's Attention, the record number of attendees to the Dubai attraction's Main Cultural Stage were not disappointed. Tweeting under the hashtag #LiamPayneAtGV, audience members such as @_maren_k_ could not disguise their delight with this comment: 'This was the best day ever! Thank you so much Liam'. This was echoed by @carmelsaleh who noted: 'one of my fave days ever.'
Payne's partner Tweedy also took to twitter whilst the pop star was on stage in Dubai, although in this case in a surprise rebuttal of the non-controversy with which UK papers have been toying.
Whilst on his global tour Payne has been featured in certain publications pictured, as some have put it, getting "cosy" with Ferns whilst spending time together off-stage, notably at a recent evening out at the Five Palm Jumeirah Hotel.
Tweedy tweeted: 'I don't usually bother myself to respond to stupid articles. But in my silence they hold the pen.. I can't ignore this story involving an innocent dancer colleague of Liam's who has a fiancé and dragging them into this desperate attempt to try to cause problems between Liam and I.'
She signs off: 'I also happen to love Katy Perry too,' in reference to further conjecture based on a photo taken of Payne and Perry backstage at a concert.
Payne will next be seen in Swansea, Wales to continue his tour promoting his solo material.
