No Italian Job for PC

ABHISHEK BACHCHAN HAS not taken kindly to Priyanka ditching his best buddy Rohan Sippy. And this has cost Priyanka dearly; she has now lost out on Abbas- Mustan’s remake of The Italian Job.

Buzz is that Rohan Sippy was very keen on having Priyanka on board for his film which stars Abhishek Bachchan, Prateik Babbar and South Indian actor Rana Daggubati. Initially, Priyanka was super excited to work with Sippy as she had given a very good performance in Bluffmaster along with Rohan’s childhood friend Abhishek Bachchan. But she later opted out of the film when she learnt that she was cast opposite newcomer Rana Daggubati and not Abhishek. Not wanting to upset Rohan, she cited that she didn’t have enough dates for the film (a normal excuse made by stars when they aren’t interested in a certain project).

A sulking Sippy notified Abhishek that Priyanka had opted out of his film by giving a lame excuse. This angered Abhishek who allegedly pulled a few strings with the makers of The Italian Job remake, and managed to oust Priyanka from the film.

Abhishek and Priyanka who had become good friends during Dostana, had a minor tiff thereafter over a song selection to be performed at an awards show last year. Both wanted to dance to the hit number Maa Da Ladla from Dostana. When Priyanka realised that Abhishek would get to perform to the song and not her, she opted out of the dance event. The rift widened when Priyanka came onto the stage to receive the award for Best Actor and called out the names of all the actresses nominated in the category ‘as talented actresses’ except Aishwarya. This naturally upset Abhishek as well as Aishwarya.

The remake of The Italian Job stars Abhishek Bachchan, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Kunal Kapoor and Akshaye Khanna. An insider says, “The remake of this film is going to be on a colossal scale. The makers have officially announced only Katrina Kaif’s name as of now as she has been their favourite since the Race days. Abbas-Mustan are now considering Preity Zinta to replace Priyanka Chopra. If Preity bags the offer then she would be seen in a very sexy avatar and it would be a great platform for Ms. Zinta to resurrect her career.”

When contacted, Priyanka’s PR maintained that right now she’s only signed Vishal Bharadwaj’s film. She insisted that Priyanka hasn’t read the script of Rohan’s film and so she cannot comment about it.
