No break-up is good

She soon became the most sought after item girl in Bollywood.

Unfortunately, her rising popularity spelled doom for her marital life as Yana’s marriage to painter Satyakam Gupta ended in a bitter divorce. Apparently Yana’s husband found it difficult to come to terms with her rising popularity and sexy image. But she soon found love in young actor Aftab Shivdasani.

Though Yana and Aftab seemed like an unlikely pair, the couple were madly in love and seen at every public do.

After being together for over three years, the couple called it quits. Neither cared to explain the cause of the break-up but it was rumored that Aftab’s possessiveness is what ended the relationship. It didn’t take Aftab too long to find love again in the arms of television actress Aamna Shariff. But Yana didn’t take the break-up too well. She became reclusive and shifted to London.

A close friend of hers reveals, “Yana put her career on hold because Aftab didn’t like her doing sexy item numbers. She didn’t mind quitting her work because she thought their relationship would work but now she has nothing left. She couldn’t handle that and hence she moved to London.”But when we asked Yana whether she had escaped to London to nurse a broken heart, she replied, “I moved to London to learn music. I then travelled to Europe, Los Angeles and Peru.”

So what went wrong between Aftab and her? “We aren’t together anymore and he’s with someone else. I guess he’s happy and wouldn’t appreciate me saying anything. Both of us have moved on,” is all Yana is willing to say. And has she come to terms with the break-up? “No break-up is good, but you have to move ahead in life.”

The split seems to have made Yana realise that she isn’t interested in Bollywood anymore, because, she “needs space and Bollywood doesn’t give you that.” Yana is now trying to launch her career as a singer and has already released her first music album.
