AlHawas, a new television channel dedicated to traditional music of the Arabian Gulf, was launched at a colourful ceremony at the J W Mariott hotel in Dubai on Tuesday evening. Owned by Ali Kanoo, a popular UAE national composer who also runs the Khams Al Hawas ...
(The Five Senses) audio production house, the channel extensively promotes the Khaleeji music and is being projected as a channel for the whole family. Speaking to Khaleej Times, Laila Elghouche, Public Relations Manager of AlHawas, said that the channel is very selective about the content it broadcasts in that it not only focuses on traditional Gulf music, but is also conscious about the region's culture and its emphasis on decency.
“It's a channel for everyone in the family, even children; as such we are talking about music and videos that are in line with the culture of the UAE and respectful of the traditions and beliefs of the people,” Elghouche commented.
