Mother Teresa makes a mark in films

TWO FILMS are being made on Mother Teresa. While one directed by an Indian is ready for release, the other produced by an Indian has just mounted the floors. A US based movie production business, is planning an English movie called Mother Teresa.

motherAbhik Bhanu is the online producer for the movie in India and he divulges that a Hyderabad born producer who currently in the US is making the film. "Well-known Hollywood director Evo, who directed Black Water, will direct the film, which will revolve around the upbringing of Mother Teresa."

The film is currently in the pre-production stages and will be shot in actual locations in Missedonia, where Mother Teresa was born and brought up. "We will film multiple scenes in other parts of the United States as well," says Bhanu."

In India we have shortlisted locations at Ramoji Rao Studios, Hyderabad, apart from Kolkota and Darjeeling, where Motehr spent a lot of time.

Banu has earlier produced and directed a film titled Sab Kuch Hai Kuch Bhi Nahi, that's based on Mahatma Gandhi's principles.

In the meantime another film on the life of Mother Teresa is ready for release after having been shot two years ago. The film has actress Penelope Cruz in it as well and she plays herself in the film. Penelope who will also do the the Spanish voiceover for the film was also working with the missionaries of charity before.

Gautam Das, scriptwriter and associate producer of the Tom Hanks starrer Bachelor Party and scriptwriter of In The Shadow of Kilimanjaro is directing Mother Teresa , a $ 2-million project being produced by Sahara, co-produced by Percept and Tribe K Cinema.

Das is of Indian origin, and the film has Sanjaay Routray as the online producer. Routray also co-produced Makdee.

Mother Teresa by Das is based on a 30,000-page study done by the Vatican and has interactions of Mother with prominent people like Father Brian from the Vatican (second in command to the Pope), Sister Nirmala, lensman Raghu Rai, Mother's biographer Navin Chawla among others.

The film was shot in Rome, France and Kolkata and is in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian. French actress Sylvie Amato is playing a young Mother Teresa.
