Investigations carried out by the police traced Syrel, who worked as a technician. Syrel, later, confessed that he had chanced upon the cellphone and had taken it for his personal use. He told the police that the cellphone was in a cupboard in a labour camp in Al Qouz.
The accused sought the court's mercy and pleaded that this was first offence. He informed the court that when the victim had called the phone, he had answered the call.
The cellphone owner pardoned him but the court sentenced him to a month in jail, followed by deportation.
