Misuari, founder of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) which previously waged a secessionist war in the Philippines' south and later forged an agreement with the government that led to the creation of the ARMM, formally denied the rebellion charges filed against him by the government.

The Muslim leader submitted his counter-affidavit denying the charges during the preliminary investigation of his case at the Department of Justice (DoJ) in Padre Faura, Manila.
