After a month of fasting and reflection, the UAE is pulling out all the stops to make Eid a memorable festival for the entire family. There are countless activities for kids and a few must-see events for adults, too. Whether you’re itching to get on the race track or you’re in the mood to enjoy the musical stylings of your favourite artists, there’s something for everyone this holiday season. Check out our favourite events taking place across the emirates this week.

Layali Dubai Concerts

A line-up of popular Arab singers will take to the stage at Layali Dubai, a series of Arabic concerts that will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre on July 30 and 31. Enjoy some of the most lilting melodies of the Middle East and get up close with top artists including Ismael Mubarak, Balqees Ahmed, Rabeh Saqer, Shamma Hamdan, Sa’ad Lamjarred and Ahlam (pictured).


Dino Live
Bring the past to life with a visit to the world’s largest movable dinosaur exhibition and mobile planetarium taking place at Arabian Centre. Families and children can also experience the only one of its kind Brick Adventureland and also catch the Vegas Magic Illusion Show as well as participate in many other fun-filled activities.


Yas Island


It’s time to rev those engines and get your race on. Motorsports enthusiasts can head down to Yas Marina Circuit all week for a bit of thrilling driving, complete with instruction, available in motorcars including the iconic Aston Martin GT4. WWE Interactive Experience 


While wrestling may be fake, there’s some real action that’s about to be unleashed on Dubai. Children and adults alike now have a chance to enjoy wrestling mania at Modhesh World where visitors can participate in a number of WWE related experiences (none of which has body contact) until September 8 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Aerial Performance


Check out the exhilarating aerial acrobatics performance that will literally take audiences to new heights as dancers spin and glide while suspended from Mall of the Emirates’ dome ceiling. Add some beautiful violin strings to the show and expect to be left breathless.

Musicians Flash Mob


If you’ve only ever seen these performances online, this is your chance to come across a live musical flash mob (randomly) planned for Diera and Mirdif City Centres and Mall of the Emirates all month. A group of performers are set to delight crowds with some dazzling impromptu performances set to your favourite pop tunes. Try and act surprised.

Modhesh Craftsville


Get your children in the festive spirit with a visit to Modhesh Craftsville at Mirdif City Centre from July 28 to August 3 where visitors will get the chance to build and create art and make musical instruments using recycled materials.

Decepticlone Transformers Show


The world premiere of the Decepticlone Transformers Show on the first day of Eid (until September 8) will see the arrival of the Autobots and their nemesis Megatron at BurJuman mall. Children will get the opportunity to meet their favourite characters, standing at almost eight feet tall, as the robots enthral audiences with an entertaining burst of sci-fi action and special effects on a soaring stage.

Hello Kitty Show


Modhesh World plays host to the world’s most famous cat, Hello Kitty, who is bringing along her friends My Melody and twin sisters Kiki & Lala to go on a fun-filled trip to the leading cities of the world – Dubai, London, Tokyo, Moscow and Paris. The Hello Kitty themed zone will let kids engage in activities around iconic landmarks and participate in fun workshops such as arts and crafts, face painting and fashion.

Movie Mania


Catch this cast of 12 incredible performers as they present a spectacular dance musical dedicated to the biggest hits of the past decades. From Hairspray’s You Can’t Stop the Beat’to Slumdog Millionaire’s Jai Ho, the Movie Mania show taking place at Deira City Centre from tomorrow to August 3 is sure to be full of soundtrack excitement.
