GIVEN THE RELATIONSHIP status, Valentine’s Day can be a stressful and often dreaded mark on anyone’s holiday calender, but why not spend it with your favourite stars instead?

Some of the biggest artists in music are coming to town as Virgin Radio gets set to host the inaugural edition of RedFestDXB, a two-day festival launching on February 13 and 14 at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre that will feature an array of pop stars and other emerging acts.

Headlining the event will be none other than the ‘Queen of Glitter’ herself, Ke$ha, who is set to make her Dubai debut on the opening day of the festival. Known best for her eccentric style, rebellious lyrics and anti-pop persona, the 26-year-old singer has managed to release a string of number one hits and build an eclectic base of fans drawn into her signature “talking rap” skills and nonconformist image.

Ke$ha will be joined by British singer John Newman, who recently exploded onto the scene with hits including the chart topping track Love Me Again, and producer Naughty Boy, whose songs La La La and Lifted (featuring the vocals of Emeli Sandé), are currently dominating the radio waves.

Boyband member Marvin Humes of JLS will also be presenting his new solo material, just weeks after he begins co-hosting The Voice UK. Also on the concert bill are The Lumineers, an American folk rock band who were recently nominated for the Top New Artist at this year’s Billboard Music Awards.

Other artists are scheduled to be added to the line-up in the coming weeks, and Virgin Radio is asking local fans to nominate the musicians they most want to see performing here by voting on the station website ( Tickets to the festival are scheduled to go on sale tomorrow at
