Fashion students at Heriot-Watt University brought their collections to life, as models took to the stage at Arabian Automobiles’ new Sheikh Zayed Road Infiniti Centre last Friday. The event attracted more than 250 guests including VIPs and socialites as well as many prospective new students.

The aim of the show was to promote collections designed by year one, two and three fashion students – some of whom will be graduating this year and to give them a debut to the professional field of fashion.

With 50 models taking to the stage in a variety of the students’ innovative collections, including made-to-measure menswear, mythical figures-inspired draped evening wear, tailored jackets and 3D outfits inspired by architecture, the collections and individual pieces featured statement fashion pieces in vibrant colours and a range of on-trend fabrics including jersey, silk and twills with creative textile manipulations.

Vanessa Northway, the academic head of the School of Textiles & Design said: “The event was a great opportunity for our students to bring all their hard work to life and showcase their talent. We are delighted and appreciate all our supporters and wish the graduating students the very best of luck. We are confident that they will achieve success and gain immense returns for their hard work.”
