A BALANCED combo of splendour and intellect is what makes actor Lara Dutta singular in her own way. Notwithstanding the films that didn't fare well at the BO, the beautiful lady is content with the way her career is progressing. As she puts it, "Although slowly...

laraI'm happy that my career graph is ascending steadily." She's not one to mince words —whether talking about her personal or professional life– Lara knows her mind and dares to speak it candidly. So while the critics were bombarding the producers of Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Lara remained unperturbed. "All I know is that I accepted the project because I was convinced with the script and the banner. My individual opinion is that the film was good and everyone worked hard for it. However, not every film is destined to be a hit," says Lara, who is all set to do yet another comedy. So is she going to be the next Sridevi or Juhi Chawla, who were popular for their perfect comic timings? She laughs aloud, then switches to a serious note, "I would be glad if I reached that stage. I've been constantly getting offers for films in this genre, which shows that I'm being accepted in such roles." By the way, Lara loved her role in No Entry but is quick to add that the character is quite unlike her. "I am not at all suspicious in real life," she says.

Ask her about her wedding plans and she responds, "I'm not thinking of marrying anyone, as of now."

Interestingly this former Miss Universe, who scored a cool 9.99 for her answer, still believes that the film industry is the best place for her. "As an actor I got the opportunity to be the United Nations Population Fund's (UNFPA) goodwill ambassador and also got a chance to address the British Parliament. I am happy as an actor," says Lara.

Among beauty queens-turned-actors , Lara likes Priyanka Chopra. "I think Priyanka is doing a great job as an actor . She's beautiful and a good actor, which is more important if you want to sustain yourself in the industry," opines Dutta. But ask her if she's willing to explore her creativity by trying out newer things and she says, "Not at all. Neither am I interested in singing nor painting." So what interests Lara? "Eating! I simply love Thai food. I'm not conscious about the quantity I consumer when it comes to Thai food."

Wonder how she maintains that hour-glass figure then.
