This being his third album, Zafar intones Jhoom represents his life’s journey and mirrors the evolution of an adolescent into an adult.
“I believe a true artist and his work should be timeless. With Jhoom I have made an attempt to produce a mature Sufi album, which allows me to perform all that I desire in order to take my music to another level. I know it may sound clichéd, but it truly is different from anything that I have ever done before. Don’t expect any Channo or Masty.”
The album also features Zafar’s critically acclaimed tunes Yaar Daddi and Dastaan-e-Ishq, which he performed on last year’s popular TV show Coke Studio. The tremendous response at the time made up Zafar’s mind to explore the Sufi genre.
Mastered at the world famous Abbey Road Studios, the album is recorded, arranged and produced by Zafar himself. Yash Raaj Music will release Jhoom in India and rest of the world on February 14 and it will come out in Pakistan on the same day on Ali’s own record label Alif Records.
