In the 1996 film, Karisma played Aarti, a rich but simple girl, who falls in love with Raja, a local taxi driver.

“Sometimes I always think with Raja Hindustani, you would want to know what happened between Raja and Aarti because it culminated at the marriage point. So it would be interesting and that (movie) has a story line to go forward,” Karisma said.

Both Aamir and Karisma had won the Filmfare best actor and best actress award for the movie.

Karisma, who has earlier portrayed strong roles in films like Fiza and Zubeidaa, says it’s an added responsibility to do women-centric projects.

“We as actors should look at it like that (added responsibility). We should do a film because the role might inspire the audience and what basically matters is your audience should love you and love your film,” the 38-year-old said.

After tying the knot with Delhi businessman Sanjay Kapur in 2003, she took a break from the arc lights and grease paint to start a family. A mother of two (daughter Samaira, born in 2005, and two-year-old son Kiaan), she made a comeback on the big screen recently with Vikram Bhatt’s Dangerous Ishhq, which didn’t fare too well at the box office.

‘WE WILL WORK TOGETHER’

She is extremely proud of her sister Kareena Kapoor, whose career is shaping up pretty well and feels that Heroine will be a milestone in her acting journey.

The film’s promos, including the item song Halkat Jawani, has been released and Karisma says: “It is a wonderful song and the promo of Heroine is also looking very good. I am looking forward to seeing the movie.”

“I feel that Heroine will be Kareena’s best performance. In fact, it will be the best,” she added.

Coming out on September 20, director Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine revolves around the ups and downs in an actress’ career. Kareena plays the title role and the cast also features Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hooda.

Asked when both sisters will be seen together on screen, Karishna said: “We both have not yet come across any such script. If we get a nice script where both of us have a good role to play, then we will work together. Let’s see who comes up with such a script.”

THE BIG WEDDING

If her fans are eagerly awaiting for Kareena’s marriage, Karisma is equally excited about her sister’s wedding, set to take place some time this year.

Asked about Saif Ali Khan and Kareena’s wedding dates, Karisma said: “I feel you should ask this to Kareena. She will get busy with the promotions of Heroine soon, so you all can catch hold of her.

“All I can say is, of course, I am excited and it will be wonderful. Even I can’t wait for Kareena’s wedding any more,” Karisma said.

FUTURE PLANS

Asked about her next move, Karisma said: “Now I am reading scripts and I am going to take a little break. Hopefully, next year I will do a movie but it all depends... I never really plan anything...”

Even at 38, she exudes the same charm that she used to as a top notch actress and wows everyone with her immaculate dressing sense. Karisma says her style mantra is just being comfortable.

“I always dress up for myself. I love to be myself and that has always stood out. No matter whatever the latest trend or fashion might be, I should feel comfortable with whatever I am wearing.

“So my fashion statement is to be comfortable and dress up for myself,” she said adding that her two children contribute to her healthy lifestyle.

“I enjoy being a mum and I enjoy running behind my kids. My kids keeps me on my toes and of course, I always endorse a healthy lifestyle.”
