The Argentine legend follows in the footsteps of stars like Simone Biles and LeBron James who were previous winner of the accolade
The aim of the competition is to seek out talented writers who have a passion for theatre, and to celebrate life in the UAE.
The Dubai Drama Group would welcome all sorts of ideas — whether it is a short scene with only two people, or just a five minute monologue. Entries for full one act plays that can last as long as fifteen minutes are also accepted. The only thing that needs to be kept in mind is that the plays should have a maximum of four characters and that the pieces refer in some respect to life in the UAE.
There is no upper or lower age limit and entries that highlight the Arabic side of life in the country would be of particular interest, as well as expat life.
The Dubai Drama Group is passionate about theatre and committed to delivering quality performances. As such, they will be directing and producing an evening of theatre to celebrate their 25th anniversary in December 2009. The winning entry from the Act Up! competition will headline the evening’s performances. This is a real chance to see your work up on stage — so get writing and make sure that you submit your entries before the deadline of August 28.
Entries can be sent, by email to dubaidramagroup@hotmail.com – please mark your entry clearly by putting ‘Act Up! ENTRY’ in the subject bar.
