The hunt is on for the next Deepika Padukone or Katrina Kaif for Firoz A Nadiadwala’s upcoming Hera Pheri 3. And the good news is that the producers want to cast a Dubai-based actress for the role. The film will be shot majorly in the UAE, and the winning entry has to be a glamorous face who can play a modern day woman, and can match up to the good looks of John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan on screen.

Bollywood Dreams

Thousands of ‘wannabe’ actors arrive in Mumbai every year hoping for a ticket to stardom. This is a short cut, a way of jumping the endless queue that a struggler in Mumbai goes through.

Arjun Kumar, the Dubai-based associate producer of Welcome Back and Hera Pheri 3 told City Times from Mumbai, “We are going to be strengthening the Bollywood presence in Dubai. We have got the right kind of talent here but films have always been shot on a small scale in the UAE. I started a trend with Welcome Back when we shot 90 per cent of the film in the UAE. The region has a big talent pool, everybody wants to get in the industry but no one knows how to go about it. We are looking at creating a parallel industry out here.”

Requirements

Height:  5ft6in or above

Age: 27 or below

Screen experience is a plus but not necessary. Makers are open to fresh talent as well.

They want a girl with Indian looks who can be cast opposite John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan.

So far Dubai has been used to rolling out the red carpet when Bollywood stars land here to promote their movies, but the equation will soon change once more locally based actors enter the industry. “We are looking at actors, technicians and directors for our upcoming ventures”, Arjun added.

The Big Plan

Hera Pheri 3 will have three leading actresses. An A-list actress from Bollywood has already been finalised for one of the leading roles and the hunt for the other two actresses is on. “Once we get the pictures and details of Dubai-based aspiring actresses, we will shortlist them. Once they pass the second round, we will fly them down to Mumbai for the main audition.”

“And it’s not just for Hera Pheri 3 but we are looking at actors for a lot of other productions as well. Right now our requirement is someone with Indian looks but we are also looking at Europeans, Egyptians and Lebanese actors for our future productions,” elaborated Arjun.

Urgent Vacancy

The makers of Hera Pheri 3 are looking to lock the female lead from the UAE by the first week of March. The shooting of this film will start by early April. Hera Pheri 3 is a sequel to super hit comedy Hera Pheri and boasts of a star cast of Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal.

The makers intend to create more employment in the region, by creating space for technicians during the shooting of their film.

Bollywood has long been accused of nepotism, whereby star kids get their break easily in an indstry where an outsider, however talented he/she may be, has to work extra hard to get a foot in. But the rules seem to be changing and for a lucky few from the UAE the casting call for Hera Pheri 3 could well be their ticket to stardom.
