"It would get rather boring to do the same thing over and over again. I am open to any kind of role —even if it is a villain's role. My only condition is that the role should be to my liking. It should have 'stardom' in it."

Then why were we hearing rumours about his wanting to do songs similar to the Main to raste se jaa raha tha number? According to the grapevine he had also insisted on such a number in one of his recent films. "That is not true at all," says the actor-turned-politician.

"At the same time, I would like to give my fans what they want. It is they who have made me a star and I cannot disappoint them."

So how is he juggling films and politics? Does he want to continue in this dual role? "I think I am managing to do the juggling act quite fine right now.

The two new tracks on the Virar-Borivli belt have been laid and local trains will start operating on them soon. I have solved ninety per cent of the water problem in the area too - which is a promise I have fulfilled to all the women in my area, and I think the results are showing.

"Every summer there used to be complaints about lack of water, but this year, touchwood, has been much better. I am doing my best," clarifies the actor.
