But that’s not to say that he’s impolite or rude; he’s just not as chatty as most stars tend to be.

The downside? Well, it’s hard to get him talking about anything – be it what he has planned for his performance at The Country Club later tonight or his forthcoming films.

“I will definitely be performing songs from my movies but I don’t want to discuss too much about it at this point. But the people who turn up are in for a night of complete and pure entertainment and enjoyment,” noted the actor over the phone from onsite at The Country Club when City Times caught up with him.

Sharing the stage with the actor at the New Year’s Bash at Airport Expo will be actress Amisha Patel and singer KK.

Rumour has it that Patel and Govinda have had some trouble getting along with each other in the past but the two will soon be seen together in filmmaker Neeraj Vora’s comedy thriller Run Bhola Run, also starring Tusshar Kapoor and Celina Jaitley. And the actor is all praises for his co-star.

“She’s done a good job and the film has really turned out well,” noted Govinda when the subject was brought up. “ We’ve worked really hard on it and it falls into the category of a complete entertainer. My audience expects a lot from me and I always keep them in mind before I take on a film.”

Another project that the actor is currently considering taking up is the sequel to David Dhawan’s box office hit, comedy Partner. Govinda is looking forward to working with his favourite director and co-star and good friend Salman Khan once again.

We also asked the actor whether his performance tonight would feature him exercising his vocal talents.

“No, not at all. I’ve stopped singing and I’ve even left politics. I’m an actor; I enjoy the profession and it’s better to stick to the job you know how to do.”

After his show, Govinda will remain behind in Dubai till January 4 to enjoy some quality vacation time with his family.
