GOOD STORY

KT, I was moved to tears when I read the interview with Thomas Lundgren. What a man! It made me realise how blessed I truly am. I always thought success came easy to those at the top, now I know that the road is paved with obstacles. Cheers. Kate Bradley, Jumeirah

With you

Hi KT I'm back from my hols. Many people here are probably indignant about the criticism you dare to write about KT in your newspaper. Not me, dear fair and balanced KT, I'm a fan — lock, stock and two smokin' barrels. Barry, Dubai

Not quite right

Ejhas, I have been reading about the lectures given by dictators and noted that people who disagree with you are wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Denise Kahn, Dubai

Shape up or ship 'em out

Get real KT. Most of us readers expect higher standards from your "professional" journalists. Well let me tell you that there are school kids here who can do better stories than your journalists. The Media Mole, Dubai

The truth

Dear KT, thank you for speaking about abused women in this state. I have gone through it at the age 13 and the man served just seven years in prison. Is it true or only my understanding that if you committed sex crimes you are not punished enough? Name withheld on request

Write style

Mr. Galadari, I am a high school student and I really like the way you write your Comment. I can always understand what you are talking about even though some letters in City Mail say you do not know journalism. Cathy Mills, Umm Suqueim

Point to ponder

Here's something for you to think about this weekend: secularisation corresponds directly to high levels of economic and physical security. Rabin Mukherjee, Jebel Ali

Election unspun

As a Briton living in this wonderful city of Dubai, I must say you offered the best UK election coverage to the British readers. Though it was a tad pro-conservative it was undoubtedly interesting. However, I'm of the opinion that it's simply unthinkable to have the same party for the third term — as we all have witnessed what happened to the Tories in the third term. Surely we don't want this repeated. Ben Smith, Dubai

Absolute tosh

Ejhas, the new graphics you used for the UK election special was distracting and deprive us from seeing your dashing face. Just give us the news and spare us the dizzying menagerie of colours. Ken, Dubai

A true leader

We sure like the KT boss

Who writes just as well as he talks,

He opines without fear

And has really cool gear

While the spin meisters

Shake in the socks!

Amanda, Jumeirah

I wanna be like you

Roopa, yesterday was dress up like your favourite character day at school. I dressed up like you and carried Young Times; around all day. Everyone was smiling at me. Anisha Mathur, Sharjah

Great job

Mr. Galadari, after many years of being fed lies by the media I can't begin to tell you how refreshing it is to wake up every morning and read honest in-your-face journalism. Your newspaper has become the saviour of the media in the Gulf. Keep up the good work! Matt, Abu Dhabi

Right on

Chandroo, I don't always agree with you but I find the no spin zone refreshing. Sometimes you seem overbearing but that often happens when someone is right. Majid Ali, Dubai

Through the looking glass

The camel jockey situation shows the problem our society faces when it operates by rules of law but chooses to ignore morality. Anisa Anwer, Sharjah

So confused

The problem people are having with the labour issue is that they confuse moral right with legal right. Laws are created despite the fact that all people do not believe in them.Sudhakar Paul, Ajman

True strength

Thanks KT for publishing all the critical letters. How a publication respond to criticism demonstrates its true strength and integrity. Very classy and admirable. Precisely what I expect from you. Mrs Henderson, Dubai

Black and white

Hey City Times! I was so excited to read the interview with my hero Amitabh Bachchan. I was however, disappointed that even though the article was long you did not ask him about Black. Some gossip would have been nice. Anirudh Kalra, Dubai

Simply unputdownable

Last week I was at the doctor's clinic waiting my turn when I noticed that several people were staring at a patient reading KT. The headlines 'Media's credibility and trust' caught my attention. When I got home that evening and dived into my copy I read the entire column. I think it was right on the ball when it stated that an American survey revealed that a substantial section of readers were not ready to believe what they read in newspapers. Most newspapers publish what they think is 'right' for the readers to know as opposed to what readers really want to know i.e the truth. Thanks KT for sticking to your aim - the truth most be told. Gary Pearson, Dubai

Bollywood Buzz

I've been living in Abu Dhabi for the last couple of years and I love Bollywood movies both for the mesmerizing song and dance numbers and for the chance to see a bit of popular culture from another part of the world. Of course, the fact that plots verge on fantasy is part of the fun. Anyway I tend to doubt whether Veer Zaara, which you mentioned as one of the top ten films in City Times, will help improve Indo-Pak relations. A large part of its appeal, after all, lies in the distinguishing characteristic of Bollywood film: characters too good to be true. Diane Hill, Abu Dhabi

Missed the point

Hi City Times! Now CT Buzz is awesome. I mean I really like the presentation about issues that matter in the UAE. However, I believe that you have left out an important piece of the picture by not including information on treatment meted out to labourers. I see them living in very cramped unhygienic conditions and nothing has been done about it as yet. Sarah Jones, Dubai

Say no to junk food

Anshuman you work with women, who regardless of their shape and size, have been pressured into believing that being thin is more important than emotional happiness and a full life. We can't judge the worth of a person by what he or she orders at dinner. Read the warning: fat is unhealthy and that's true for you too. Huda, Dubai

You are being watched

Pradeep, stop being a dolt, you and your self-righteous conservative views, trying to impose your ideas and morals on us. Are you sick in the head? Aliens exist. If you don't believe me take a good look around you — chances are you won't find a single human around. Chandrasensonic, Sharjah

Stressed out

Ejhas, some time back there was an article in KT that stress could be bad for health and now the new report shows that slight stress is good for healthy life. It is a slippery slope to decide which life is worth living. Are you trying to scare the hell out of me?Mohammed Hussein, Dubai

Smile a mile

Mr. Publisher, I am impressed by the choice of charities you donate to. I feel happy to see that there are young, dynamic people like you who donate their time and money to make thousands smile. Keep up the good work. Rania K, Dubai

Front page appeal

Mehre, I am disappointed to hear that you are no longer looking at the front page. I thought something was wrong when I noticed that there were no round-faced women gracing the pages any more.Shazia Mirza, Ajman

Interesting info

I realised that KT seeks relevance in today's world in its selection of articles. However, the Iraq and terror issue is overkill. Leave it to the nightly newscast. Please allow us our escape from the constant pounding and pontification on Iraq and give us more interesting news on what's happening in and around the UAE. Yogesh Bijlani, Dubai

Fight obesity

School age is the most important time to begin to stop obesity. If you ask me the best way is to stop advertisements for fast foods and sweets on television and forbid such stuff being sold at schools too. Nancy Wilson, Abu Dhabi

Much ado about nothing

I found the article on Prince Harry cheating in his exams not only poor in taste but completely inappropriate for a newspaper whose aim is to provide newsworthy information. Why would we care if Harry cheated? He certainly isn't the first one. Aren't there more important issues to be covered? Tania Sharma, Abu Dhabi

Role of the media

Mr. Galadari, thank you for your well thought out comment on 'Sensationalism in bride case'. The American media thrives on sensation and speculation. O J Simpson and Terri Schiavo being prime examples. The role of the media should be that of a watchdog, and a prudent one at that. Ann Davidson, Jumeirah

Movie talk

Gita, did you know that most films spoonfeed audiences, great films raise questions and I hope that people will find their own way to the truth after they see the Kingdom of Heaven. A real must-watch don't miss it. Susan, Dubai
