Part of the Dubai Shopping Festival, it aims to showcase both talented upcoming designers and international haute couture styles and trends.
Organisers will be chasing a Guinness World Record for the ‘Biggest and Quickest Fashion Makeover’, as 100 make-up artists try to transform the appearances of more than 100 ladies in a record 10 minutes. This event will be held at the the Star Atrium on Friday, February 3 at 7pm. Ladies wishing to participate can register at www.facebook/dxbevents.
‘Dubai Fashion 2012’ will also include the longest catwalk in the Middle East, in which 60 sassy ladies can join 40 models to sashay down a 120-metre stretch on Friday, February 3 from 4.30pm (register at www.facebook/dxbevents).
On Saturday, February 4, the world’s highest catwalk comes to the world’s tallest building, as the Burj Khalifa hosts a fashion show with models showcasing top brands from a breathtaking vantage point.
Elsewhere, the Star Atrium will see daily amateur fashion shows until Thursday, February 2 at 6.30pm, 8pm and 9pm. The designers will showcase their collection of abayas, jalabeyas, wedding dresses, evening wear and Indian wear - with participating names including Arjun Kapoor, Salma Khan and Ted Baker.
Four Emirati photographers will see their fashion-related works displayed during mall opening hours, and a mock fashion shoot will take place daily to show shoppers the ins and outs of a typical day at the studio.
And finally, the ‘Holo Cube’ will allow visitors to enter a specially installed cube-shaped structure to watch a holographic fashion show.
