VETERAN ACTOR Michael de Mesa's best-known son, Geoff Eigenmann, has turned 22 and he has every reason to be happy as he's loaded with work —happily busy as a Pinoy showbiz bee, so to speak.

M-W-F, he tapes Rounin where he is Nikki Gil's love interest. T-Th-S, he tapes Hiram na Mukha with Heart Evangelista, a remake of an old film starring Nanette Medved and Cesar Montano. Sundays, he hosts ASAP and is also a VJ for "MYX."

So what's his birthday wish? World peace, he says. "And also that everything going on right now with my life and career will continue, even though I don't have a day off."

What about his mom, the multi-awarded actress Gina Alajar? We heard she's dating again. Would he object if she'd get a boyfriend as young as he is? "It's up to her, but the guy will have to pass through us three brothers first. She dates and she has suitors, but we can see she's not serious with any of them."

Maybe his mom's suitors are intimidated by him and his brothers Ryan and AJ? "Could be. We can be so protective of our mom."

Their dad, Michael, is a well-known ladies man. How come not one of them has the same reputation? "It's my personal decision not to play around. I don't want the woman I love to go through what my mom did. So far, I have had two serious girlfriends in my life, both non-showbiz. When I joined showbiz, I wasn‚t looking for a girlfriend. I became more focused on my career."

How come it's said he's now going steady with Nikki Gil? "We're the best of friends. I'm courting her, but we're still getting to know each other. She's met my mom and brothers and they like her." Truth is, they have been friends for a long time. And they were classmates in high school.

As an original "Ang TV" member at eight in ABS-CBN, Geoff Eigenmann was expected to follow the same path of his well-respected family of actors. Hence, as a kid, more than a decade past, Geoff used to tag along his parents to tapings.

His education in show business was already beginning then. His interest in what his parents did for a living soon became part of his consciousness as he began to be part of show business. Yet, his biggest break would be a starring role —not in a television show or a motion picture —in a television commercial for Globe.

Not a few noticed the good looks and the charming uneven lop-sided smile. In just a span of two weeks, people were talking about this guy up in the mountains who needed a load for his mobile phone. Indeed, after the launch of the TV ad, he was considered one of heartthrobs of Philippine showbiz.

What followed was a dizzying baptism into the realm of show business. He landed a role in ABS-CBN‚s "Hiram" with Anne Curtis, Dina Bonnevie and Kris Aquino. Not long after that soap had concluded, he is in "Ikaw ang Lahat Sa Akin" with Claudine Barretto, Diether Ocampo, Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz.

From television, he hopped onto the movie bandwagon with a starring role in two blockbuster movies -- "Becuz of U" and the recent "First Day High' -- both from Star Cinema. His potential as an actor has become obvious, yet Geoff doesn't want to be confined to just creating characters.
