MASTER PIANIST OVIDIO de Ferrari will serve up an eclectic mix of classical and world music later this month, backed by a 24-piece orchestra and a light comic touch.

During his career, Ovidio has performed in 25 countries, as well as producing, conducting and organising hundreds of events. Seven years ago, he founded the Ovidio Music Institute in Dubai, with more than 200 students a year passing through its doors a year. Elsewhere, he was appointed conductor of the Dubai Chamber Orchestra in June 2005.

Born in the Chilean city of Iquique, Ovidio started improvising music before he was able to read properly at the age of five.

“Growing up among musicians helped me to develop the talent of playing and composing music from the very beginning,” explains Ovidio. “I thought the whole world played the piano!”

After excelling at school, he gained a scholarship to study music and composition in the Conservatory of Music at the University of Chile.

Ovidio’s most recent show, entitled ‘A Man and His Music’, combines laughter with virtuoso musicianship, plus a dash of his Chilean heritage and guest vocalists.
