Fashion fever IV

‘SAVE THE BEST for last’ definitely seems to be the mantra at the Dubai Fashion Week (DFW) Autumn-Winter 2009. For its final day of shows, the most promising bunch of creators step out into the limelight.

Jai Singh and Pravesh Kumar

Pravesh Jai, the innovation of NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology) graduates Jai Singh and Pravesh Kumar, not only won them creative accolades but also made it to Vogue’s Best Dressed List. The dynamic duo has also designed for international labels such as Von Dutch and Parah.

Amal Murad

In keeping with her Emirati roots, designer Amal Murad brings to the DFW runway a line of traditional abayas from the studio of her label Redaa. Her collection will showcase a set of practical-for-the-winter abaya options, which will also feature modern touches to the traditional garment.

Emirati sibling duo, Reem and Hind Ali Beljafla, are the creators of the DAS collection. The sisters are deeply inspired by the traditional abaya, but continue to maintain its international appeal by introducing modern twists. Reem recently acquired ‘Best Business Woman of the Year’ and ‘Best Design Business’ at the Mohammed bin Rashid Awards for Young Business Leaders.

Omani-born, London-based designer Amr Ali’s label BODYAMR (pronounced ‘Body Armour’) is renowned for creating stunning silhouettes for the female form.
