The competition included skateboarding, BMX and aggressive inline skating. Additional entertainment included performances by local rock bands, Sandwash and Liptricks. Reaching its climax on Friday with the finals, winners from the three sports categories were announced.

While Colm Noonan took the honours in the skateboarding event, Zayed Abdullah finished on top of the podium in the inline skating category. Wassim Azhari rode his bike to fame in the BMX event. The event, in its fourth year, had to be nearly postponed following Friday's unexpected downpour. However, showing true dedication to their sport, the competitors joined forces and collectively swept the floor and ramps of the skate park dry so that the event could commence.

Speaking of the competition, organiser Moustafa Al-Hamwi, said, "The Dubai Desert Extreme Amateur Championship creates a great opportunity for lovers of extreme sports. It is an excellent platform for up and coming athletes and its success illustrates the popularity of action sports and the demand for events of a similar kind."
