Did fast Freida dump her ‘husband’?

Giving rise to speculations that she’d soon move to New York, Freida said, “The movie business is big in Los Angeles but I’d rather stay in New York. I’d consider moving to New York because it reminds me of my hometown Mumbai and I won’t feel home-sick.” While her professional life is soaring to newer heights - she hobnobs with the likes of Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and other Hollywood biggies - back home friends are calling the actress “ambitious,” “heartless” and a “go-getter” for dumping her alleged fiancé/husband Rohan after becoming successful.

An insider says that Freida and Rohan, who had been seeing each other for four years, got secretly married in December 2007 in Goa, Rohan’s hometown. But they chose to keep the wedding a secret because Freida was desperate to get into films and felt marriage would hamper her prospects. “Rohan runs his own advertising agency and always supported Freida; they were together even while she was working in Slumdog Millionaire,” said the insider. “But never in her wildest dreams did Freida think that the film would open so many doors for her. Now that she has become an overnight star she has broken all ties with Rohan and has asked him not to talk about their relationship to anybody.”

Unlike a spurned lover, Rohan seems to be content with Freida’s success. He has even refused to speak to the press and is keeping an extremely low profile. But friends say he’s hurt and hoping Freida may return to him given time.

However, newfound success isn’t the only reason for Freida’s betrayal. Her newfound friendship with Slumdog Millionaire co-star Dev Patel is also one of the causes.

But the 18-year-old Dev laughed off the rumours and said, “She is undoubtedly very attractive but there is nothing between us as of now.” Meanwhile 24-year-old Freida was extremely guarded and defensive when asked about Rohan and her marriage, she said, “I don’t want to talk about my personal life, it doesn’t concern anybody.”
