Here he talks to City Times about his rise to fame ahead of his bridal showcase in the city

You managed to enter the world of Bollywood first as a choreographer. How has that played into your relationships with the celebrities that have become your fashion supporters?

My relationships with celebrities are at a very personal level and I have never mixed my professional life with my personal; however they have always been my support pillars and are always there with me.

You had no formal training in design. Were you ever nervous that your fashion project would fail?

Not really, even though I haven’t taken any fashion training I was always passionate about creating, and everything just went with the flow. I designed my vision.

Your bridal lines are especially popular. Can you talk about some of the trends your foresee this wedding season?

I don’t see brides wearing the typical lehenga choli in traditional colours this season. My latest line of clothing is diffusion in cream and gold. I have also done full gher skirts with choli and dupattas.

What are some of the biggest fashion mistakes brides-to-be make?

I feel that brides overburden themselves with clothes and jewellery. I suggest that they go more minimalistic and classy.

You’re also trying your hand at filmmaking. What made you decide to go from being a successful designer to filmmaker?

I always wanted to pen my thoughts and express myself. My movie is very close to my heart.

Can you tell us about the script that you have been working on?

I am at a very initial stage of script-writing right now, so will not be able to talk much about it at this point.

Who would be your dream actor and actress to headline your film?

My film casting will be done only on the basis of the suitability of the character. I want to do complete justice to each role and character

How would you describe your fashion style?

Simple and classy.

What do you think of the future of the fashion industry in India?

India is very versatile when it comes to fashion. People here are acceptable of all kinds of clothing from Indian, fusion or even Western.

What are some of the things that inspire your designs?

Colours and simplicity.

Did you ever imagine that you would reach this point in your career?

This was always my vision and when I look back I am glad I am here now.

What defines you?

I am a dreamer.

How do you unwind?

Spending time with my family and friends always gives me my dose of refreshment.
