CRUZ'S WORLD REVOLVES AROUND PEDRO
Penelope Cruz and Pedro Almodovar love each other. That was evident from the love-fest they held at the recent press conference for their new film Volver. Cruz deflected questions about her love life to gush about her devotion to Almodovar.
"I sound like a groupie," Cruz said on Friday after a 10-minute discourse on how fabulous Almodovar is.'My career and even my life wouldn't be the same without him. (In) whatever subject he touches on film, he really explores every layer. He's so brave to put out there what he sees, and he never judges his characters.'
A glamorous Cruz, all dolled-up in keeping with the Sofia Loren-like look she sports in the film, beamed as Almodovar returned the sentiment. 'Penelope is gorgeous and perfect,' he volunteered.
The gaggle of actresses flanking Almodovar took turns chiming in with their admiration for the director. Almodovar's original muse, Carmen Maura, who ended a personal cold war between herself and Almodovar to play Cruz's mother in …Volver,ª was not to be outdone.
