Plastic and food waste are on par as the primary material discarded in household waste in the Middle East, according to a survey
While Vidya Balan and Kareena Kapoor are trying their best to do roles which showcase their acting prowess, Bipasha Basu seems to harbour no such ambitions.
She’s refused to do a film about Bhawri Devi (a nurse who was murdered for being involved with a politician), after she first agreed to be a part of it. The filmmakers were also willing to offer her a great deal of money for the role, yet Bipasha doesn’t seem interested.
“If she were to do this movie, it would have proven for good that Bipasha cannot act. This film requires more substance and less sleaze while Bipasha can only sizzle. There would obviously be comparisons between her performance and those of her contemporaries in similar films.
There is no way Bipasha can come close to matching their acting talent. The money would just have been a hollow victory. After all, the audience is impressed with an actor’s performance and not his/her acting fee,” says a source.
In the past, filmmakers have made hard-hitting films revolving around ordinary women in India who have been caught in extraordinary circumstances.
Bandit Queen directed by Shekhar Kapur had Seema Biswas leaving everyone speechless with her powerful performance as Phoolan Devi. Nandita Das played Bhanwari Devi (a Rajasthani social worker who was gang-raped by her fellow village men) in Bhawandar, with haunting conviction.
