Bollywood star Salman Khan has been using his social media handles to raise awareness about the coronavirus pandemic for a while now. 'Bhaijaan' as he is popularly known has also put his money where his mouth is and pledged financial support to daily wage workers from the film industry amidst the ongoing lockdown in India. In his latest effort to contribute towards the battle against the pandemic, the Maine Pyar Kiya actor just dropped a new track, Pyaar Karona, his first independent music release on his newly launched YouTube channel. "As India fights Covid-19, let's join our forces of love and compassion to come out stronger in these times. Here's presenting 'Pyaar Karona' an anthem sung by yours truly for the fight against the deadly Coronavirus pandemic. The song has been made using minimal resources available at my disposal. Listen to the inspiring number and spread the message of love," he wrote on his official YouTube channel. Pyaar Karona was written, composed and sung with minimal resources during the lockdown period in India. Composed by Sajjid Wajid and with lyrics by the actor and Hussain Dalal, the Pyaar Karona video is sombre in black and white, with the actor in a bearded avatar singing lyrics like 'pyaar karona, fiqr karona' - 'pyaar karona, madad karona' - 'pyaar karona khayal karona' - alternately giving advice about staying home, working from home, being creative while at home, having patience as well as encouraging people to consider each other and take care of each other, also giving a shout out to those working tirelessly in the fight against the pandemic, and how the virus doesn't discriminate between rich and poor. Music is minimal and the song is almost like the actor having a conversation with the public. He showcases his rapping skills as well - to the delight of fans online, who went into a frenzy. Also, the lyrics 'Sare Jahan Se Accha, Hindustan Hamara' and the Indian flag at the end of the video give the song a nationalistic appeal. It's a well-known fact that Salman's superfans hang on to his every word and move, and the live chat on his YouTube channel prior to the premiere of the video just proved this - the chat was abuzz with activity for hours as fans showered effusive praise on the star with a liberal sprinkling of heart and wide-eyed emojis, as they counted down the minutes to the song's release. As the song began, the chat went into overdrive, with fans gushing over Pyaar Karona. Considering the extremely wide reach and appeal of Bollywood stars, this latest step by Salman - to reach out musically - will no doubt be a huge hit and put a smile on his fans' faces in these challenging times for mankind. Pyaar Karona is available on Amazon Music, Gaana, Google Play Music, iTunes, Resso, Jio Saavn, Spotify, TikTok, Wynk Music, YouTube and Hungama. enid@khaleejtimes.com
