Ashutosh in a soup

TROUBLE IS BREWING in Ashutosh Gowariker’s career. His only 2010 release Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey failed to create any magic at the boxoffice and it looks like Gowariker’s troubles haven’t ended there.

Buddha an ambitious project undertaken by Spice Entertainment, written by Oscar nominee David Ward, has been in the making for a long time. The mantle to direct the film was given to Gowariker but rumour has it that the producers are not too happy with him. The reason for this is apparently the creative differences that have cropped up between Gowariker, the producers and the writer. The producers of the film did not quite agree with the changes Gowariker had suggested in the script as they want it to be an international project. Now with two flops in a row (What’s Your Rashee and Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey) they are having grave doubts about Gowariker’s ability to bring in the viewers.

Shekhar Kapur had shown interest in directing the film earlier but left midway to make Elizabeth. After that, Gowariker was brought on board. But with differences cropping up between them, the producers are on the lookout for a new director. Gowariker is still tight lipped about this development and B K Modi, head of Spice Entertainment hasn’t confirmed it either saying Gowariker was busy with Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey which is why they haven’t been able to decide on a way forward for the movie.
