LET US FORGET the irony in Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga (VSOP) releasing at a time when Tamil Nadu is clamouring for liquor prohibition.
After all, this Arya-Santhanam starrer makes no tall claims. It is billed as a breezy comedy where two friends discover that their all-knowing relationship is being challenged by none other than their fiancées. The film is directed by M Rajesh, who has had a hat-trick of successes with Siva Mansula Sakthi, Boss Engira Bhaskaran and Oru Kal Oru Kannadi. He denies that the film glorifies alcohol consumption, adding that it just forms an inevitable prop in the story of two lifelong buddies.
VSOP, however, is critical for him because his previous film All in All Azhagu Raja, starring Karthi, had a lame run at the box office.
This time, he is not taking any chances. He took on the Boss Engira Bhaskaran duo, Arya and Santhanam, hoping to recreate a magical hit. With music by D Imman and the YouTube trailer raising a few good chuckles, VSOP aims to offer a pleasant time with family at theatres.
The film is now playing in the UAE.
