ART TAKES CENTRESTAGE

His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah inaugurated on Saturday evening the Islamic art festival exhibition at the Sharjah art museum.

The exhibition, organised annually during the month of Ramadan will last until November 15 and will feature more than 500 art works by 40 UAE and expatriate artists, 12 Iranian and Spanish artists who portrayed their art work in Arabic calligraphy, decoration, pottery and ceramics.

Officials of the Iranian Consulate General accompanied Dr Shaikh Sultan who took a tour at the three pavilions of the exhibition. Dr Shaikh Sultan expressed his admiration to the valuable arts presented at the exhibition.

Addressing the media after ending his tour of the exhibition pavilion, Dr Shaikh Sultan said that the Islamic arts festival is an opportunity to showcase various forms of arts to art lovers who really love calligraphy.

The exhibition is also a chance to closely see the architecture in Andalus and to watch breath-taking natural sceneries that narrate the Andalosian heritage.

Dr Shaikh Sultan urged the government authorities to support artists and to enable them to reflect their true reflections about our Islamic identity to the whole world. Dr Shaikh Sultan also noted that the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information had pioneering experiences in organising various art exhibition in various countries and that the exhibitions witnessed greet success.

The exhibition organised by the Sharjah Department of Culture and Information will be open from 9 am to 1 pm and from 9 pm to 11 pm.
