I'm just hoping that people will still accept me. Whatever the outcome, at least I was able to show them the real me," says singer Arnee Hidalgo.

Arnee, younger sister of original Smokey Mountain member Jeffrey Hidalgo, launched her solo career a few years ago with the release of her album that contained the single Cold Summer Nights, a remake of a Francis Magalona hit, but given an R & B treatment.

At the time, Arnee was already married and had one child, a son named Andre Gabriel. However, she was adviced to conceal the fact that she was a wife and mother. The general feeling of the people handling her career was that if the public knew Arnee's real status, it would have a negative effect.

The concealment was only supposed to be temporary. Supposedly until such time we could capture the market, she says.

It was something that her husband, businessman Filipino-German businessman Yancy Shoaf found hard to accept. "At first, he felt bad, but he understood it would be temporary, and he knew that we had to do it because of my career," says Arnee.

Of course, it was difficult for Arnee too. She could not go out with her son or her husband, nor could she talk about them. "I was not able to enjoy them", she says.

Everything was fine for a while. Then just when Arnee's career was beginning to take off and in the middle of promoting her album she got pregnant with her second child. When she found out, her first reaction was a combination of surprise and shock.

"It wasn't planned," she says. "But I accepted it right away. I just told myself, it was God's gift."

Her second child, Christian Samuel, was born on Christmas Day 2004. Now that he is a little older, Arnee has decided to stage a comeback. She has teamed up with brother Jeffrey to produce her new album, Arnee: You Got It All.

The album contains two original songs and 10 revivals. The album is produced by their family-owned label, Musiclink, and will be distributed by STAR Records.

This time around, Arnee is serious about her comeback — so serious that she wants to start again on a clean slate. That's why she decided to come out and tell everyone about her husband and two kids.

She feels good about her decision. "I'm ready this time around," says Arnee. "Like I said, I'm not hoping for much, except that I hope people will welcome me back."
