A magical art form

across the region will host ‘Beyond Imagination’ a dual exhibition by two of the foremost surrealistic artists in the world today – Daniel Merriam and Tomek Setowski. Not many artists in the world paint in the ‘fantastic or magical realism’ genre; one of the main reasons being that the method, approach and style in this form is extremely unusual and difficult.

The meeting of two artists from this limited pool of talent is a rare and exclusive event in itself.

“Beyond Imagination is a specially curated exhibition of highly creative and imaginative paintings by the best in genre; as always our objective is to create the perfect platform for connoisseurs, art enthusiasts and the youth to experience this amazing art movement and become a part of it’s historic evolution,” said Kasia Abouhamad, Managing Director, Mark 121 Fine Art Events.

Presented in partnership with American Express, Art of Living and Jumeirah Sirius, ‘Beyond Imagination’ showcases 20 original paintings, 15 giclées and 5 graphic prints. The exhibition is on at Emirates Towers Boulevard till today.

Following the successful debut of globally acclaimed artist, Jerzy Kedziora, Mark 121 Fine Art Events’ second art experience presents an up close and personal insight into the more modern and contemporary genre of surrealistic painting.

Hailing from Poland and the US respectively, Tomek Setowski and Daniel Merriam hail from different backgrounds, yet they are joined in their passion for translating and transforming canvas to reflect the inner workings of a highly creative and imaginative space that only few have the ability to capture.

As part of the event, highly acclaimed jewellery designer, Rula Abu Khadra will exclusively partner with the artists under her jewelry label - Art of Living, where she will display her equally artistic and eclectic collection of rare vintage jewels.

“Such creativity and imagination must always be celebrated, and I’m extremely proud and happy to be associated with such amazing talent and to be able collaborate with them at this event. Art must be celebrated in all its forms and expressions,” said Rula Abu Khadra.

Both Daniel and Tomek will deliver lectures at the American University in Dubai, where their insights, techniques and previous work will be discussed and studied by the students.

Daniel Merriam is regarded as on of the world’s foremost water colourists and has captured the hearts and curiosities of collectors worldwide. His paintings are dreams in full colour, inviting the viewer to join a journey into the imagination, where the worlds of reality and fantasy collide in an explosion of colour, shapes and symbolism.

Tomek Setowski is known worldwide as one of the most prominent representatives of the style called “Magical Realism”. Fairy tale characters, underwater worlds, sky cities, beautiful women, deep symbolism, and manifestations of his dreams form the main inspiration for his work.
