A fashion to Empress

Emirati designer, Zareena's new collection captures the brilliance of a bygone Indian Royalty.

royalIT WAS an evening flowing with elegance and glittering glory. As the models sauntered in regal style down a unique ramp decorated by glowing candles on either side, the whole evening paid a rich tribute to the Royal India of yesteryears.

rol1Emirati designer Zareena’s latest collection unveiled recently at the Dubai World Trade Centre captured the brilliance and glory of the age of ‘Maharajas’ and ‘Maharanis’ or Emperors and Empresses.

The designer's grand creations transposed the venue into a mystical royal palace inhabited by beautiful queens and princesses swathed in splendid creations.

Rich embroidery especially in gold imbued the ambience with brilliance redolent of an extraordinary era. Each piece represented a unique design with heavy emphasis on bejewelled embellishments around the neck, creating the majestic necklace or choker effect.

roy2Over 50 designs were displayed as the models made their way in sinuous evening wear gowns down the candle lit ramp. Ceiling to floor gold chains glistened against the contrasting black backdrop of the venue adding palpable royal touches to the show.

Soft flowing fabrics such as silk and lightweight chiffon adorned with rhinestone embroidery imparted an ethereal princess quality to each model.

rol3Several gowns were marked by a burst of lavish embroidery along the waistline. Semi precious stones coupled with gold and silver work on multi layered garments added to the richness of regal resplendence.

ro4The specially selected Indian music that accompanied the show proved the perfect backdrop for the guests to enjoy the collection on show.

Zareena is one designer who is known for her talent in carefully crafting and designing each piece with lush embroidery, simple elegance and incomparable perfection. Each piece shone as a testimony of her passion for designing and her penchant for perfection.
