Wipro sees surge in Mideast operations

DUBAI —Wipro Infotech, has been chosen by Thuraya Satellite Communications for Business Intelligence and Data warehousing solution. The solution will streamline information flow across various applications and will provide a panoramic view of data traffic, segment and corporate performance. Thuraya will be able to consolidate information from various sources for performance analysis, research, decision support and forecasting.

Speaking at the press briefing yesterday, Suresh Vaswani, president, Wipro said, "We see Middle East market moving into higher value services as IT is increasingly relied upon to drive business momentum. Middle East forms critical part of our global business strategy. Our company is extremely committed to building a strong customer base in UAE. We bring in our global experience, domain skills and technology understanding to drive business momentum in our customer engagements."

The company with $1.85 billion revenues worldwide posted a growth of 28 per cent in the second quarter of this year in the Asia Pacific/Middle East region. Last year the company witnessed a year on year growth of 85 per cent in this region.

Raman Sapra, regional business head , Middle East, Wipro Infotech told Khaleej Times, “We have one office in Dubai Internet City handling operations in UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and the second at Al Khobar catering to Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. For the last four years we are experiencing 70 to 80 per cent year on year and at present we have 400 employees working for us in the Dubai office. Wipro provides IT infrastructure, business application for media industry, retail, telecom , travel and transportation and is best known for SAP projects. ’’
