Weekend to bring large crowds to Gitex Shopper 2019

Retailers at the ongoing Gitex Shopper 2019 event are gearing up for the surge of shoppers that will arrive over the weekend, attracted by the promise of bundle deals, exclusive new launches, and further reductions.
Officials noted that while the opening of the exhibition had brought in a fair number of shoppers, mainly due to the excitement of the latest smartphone launches, the weekend was the time when things were expected to get really busy. Many shoppers, they said, wait for the weekend so that they can bring their whole family. Others like to wait and get an idea about the type of deals that are going around, before making an informed decision on their purchases. Many others are content to wait till the very last days of the exhibition in an effort to make the most if the reduced prices.
Narayan Agarwal, chief finance officer at Emax, said that there are several factors that will translate into strong sales at the event. Chief among them are the latest smartphone launches, especially the new iPhone 11, in addition to the fact that the event had once again been launched as a 'once-a-year event', where shoppers are guaranteed the best deals across various product segments.
"The fact that we have moved back into the halls closest to the Dubai Metro is a big plus point for us," he added. "We are definitely looking forward to some strong sales."
Avinash Shanbhogue, portfolio director - Exhibitions, Events Management at DWTC, noted that many shoppers will also be drawn to the event due to the returning trade in option. "Many shoppers are looking to upgrade. There is nothing wrong with their phone or tablet, but there is a new model in the market and they are interested in getting it. Trade in offers remove the hassle of having to sell their old device. Shoppers can go to the booth, trade in their old device, and get vouchers that they can use at the different retailer stands all in the same day."
