War fears hit Lebanon pound

BEIRUT Lebanon's pound LBP slid to the weakest level in the central bank's intervention band in the week ending Friday as investors kept hold of their dollars amid worries about a possible war in Iraq, dealers said.

The pound eased to around 1,513-1,514 to the dollar, the bottom of the intervention band 1,501-1,514. Dealers said the central bank intervened to cover demand by selling dollars at 1,514 pounds.
