Volumes remain low

DUBAI Cumulative market volumes remained low yesterday, but gains in Etisalat and Emaar continued helping major indices move up.

At the DFM, there was trading on seven counters with Emaar leading the volumes with 29 trades of 59,100 shares, which were valued at over Dh1.26 million. The property stock advanced 45 fils to Dh21.35. Union Properties was the only other gainer and ended the day at Dh21.80, up five fils.

Mashreqbank dropped Dh10 to Dh690 on two trades of 22,547 shares, which were valued at over Dh15.55 million and Dubai Islamic Bank was down 95 fils to Dh24.80 on eight trades of 15,400 shares, while Dubai Investments and Tabreed remained unchanged on small volumes.

The total DFM volume for the day was reported at 102,043 shares, which were valued at over Dh17.28 million.

On the ADSM, Abu Dhabi National Hotels advanced Dh7.08 to Dh88.90 on a volume of 22,670 shares, which were valued at over Dh2.01 million, while Etisalat rose Dh1 to Dh120.50 on a volume of 20,494 shares, which were valued at over Dh2.46 million, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank was up 20 fils to Dh16.15 and First Gulf Bank finished with gains of eight fils at Dh5.18 on a volume of 20,943 shares.

The National Bank of Abu Dhabi Emirates Stock Markets Index (NBAD ESMI), which tracks the DFM and the ADSM listed shares, advanced 5.21 points to 1,375.57 as the NBAD ESMI service sector index rose 9.98 points to 1,038.7. The NBAD ESMI banking sector index was down 4.09 points to 1,608.43 and the NBAD ESMI insurance sector index closed unchanged at 1,199.14.

Emirates Financial Services (EFS) listed no movers on the OTC market, while Emnex advanced 10.67 points to 2,235.08. The property sub-index was up 13.06 points to 813.5, while Islamic rose 4.36 points to 978.28 and the telecom sub-index finished with gains of 8.87 points at 1,135.66. The financial services sub-index declined 1.71 points to 2,537.65 and the insurance sub-index remained unchanged for the day.

The NBAD market review reported just one mover on the OTC market with Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding rising Dh2.42 to Dh28.70.

The NBAD general index was up 12.39 points to 3,408.06. The NBAD banking sector index was down 6.79 points to 3,540.95 and the NBAD service sector index advanced 41.90 points to 3,962.17. The NBAD insurance sector index remained unchanged.
