Visa and IFC support credit bureau development in GCC

DUBAI — Visa International, the world's leading provider of electronic payment solutions and the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, organised a roundtable discussion that was attended by representatives from regional and international credit bureau initiatives, Visa member banks, GCC governments and other industry experts to discuss best practice in the efficient running of private credit bureaus in the region.

The main objectives of the workshop were to discuss the important role that credit reporting and credit scoring play in modern risk management and to discuss what constitutes an enabling regulatory environment for the efficient running of credit bureaus.

The workshop also aimed at helping the establishment of cross-country networks to share experiences and provide a forum to promote regional cooperation.
