The oil and gas conglomerate and Fifa, the world governing body, sign major sponsorship agreement
The Indian contingent, to be the largest from the Asia-Pacific region, will be a combination of public and private sector companies, including manufacturers and suppliers of aerospace and aviation products, according to Fairs & Exhibitions (F&E), organisers of the show.
Seventeen leading firms, including Antrix Corporation of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL) from the public sector and Saras Technologies, Sanghvi Aerospace and Tata Advanced Materials from the private sector have already confirmed their participation.
"For the first time, Indian manufacturers and suppliers will get an opportunity to showcase their capabilities, forge relationships with decision-makers from the world over and seek avenues of cooperation in the global aviation sector," F&E chief Clive Richardson told reporters here yesterday.
"In the run-up to the D-day, we expect three more Indian firms to confirm their participation in the exposition where there will be a separate pavilion for India, being set up by the Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies & Industries (SIATI)," he said.
Incidentally, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) is yet to confirm its participation.
The Dubai Air Show, a bi-annual event organised with the support of the UAE government since 1989, is expected to attract about 700 global aviation and aerospace firms from the military as well as civilian sectors.
The Indian pavilion will include a wide range of aviation and aerospace specialists in the areas of integrated control, automation, electrical turnkey solutions, cable assemblies and engineered services.
In the last air show held in 2003, about 550 global firms from 36 countries participated. The event also generated a business of $7 billion, with several participants striking on-site deals.
