Currently, the auto parts industry is the third largest generator of income for Thailand. Given the rapid boost experienced in the recent past, the sector is gearing up for higher growth. The Thai government recently formulated concrete policies and strategies to increase overall automotive production target of 800,000 million baht by 2006. Of this amount, more than 200,000 million baht will be from auto parts alone.

The Thailand Automotive Institute projects that exports of Thai-made parts will reach Dh20 billion in 2006, of which Dh8 billion in parts will be sold to assembly plants and the remainder on the replacement market. It also expects the export value to reach Dh40 billion in 2010, of which Dh16 billion will be sold to assemblers and rest to the replacement market. Last year, exports of Thai-made parts touched Dh14.35 billion.

At present, Japan is the largest market for Thai auto parts followed by USA and Asean countries. However, Thai Auto Parts manufacturers are also making inroads in to the Middle East and Africa region.

The AutoParts Re-export 2004 Show, which is Middle East’s one and only tradeshow exclusively for the Autoparts Aftermarket Re-export segment, will enable the participating Thai auto parts manufacturers to establish a firm foothold in the region through not only marketing of their products but also through appointment of agents, holding of consultations with industry experts, and forging of new business relationships.
