Promotional or advertising messages can be a pain. Every day your cellphones beep multiple times just to flash the promotional offer from your telecom service provider or the store you shopped at or the spa you visited last month.
Once you share your number with a store after shopping, you are automatically added to their SMS list and you will be alerted about their latest offers.
And most of the times these messages are unwanted and serve you no good.
Have you always wanted to block the message and didn't know how? UAE's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has rolled out a service to block such messages.
A statement issued by TRA said that as a part of their efforts to improve the telecom services and limit mobile phone advertising messages, an initiative has been launched to block advertising via short messaging service (SMS) in cooperation with the licenced telecom operators - Etisalat and du.
Just send an SMS with the message “Ball” to 7726 and the operator will block all advertising SMS-es starting with AD-.
"This is the first phase of our initiative to limit undesired advertising messages via mobile phones. We thank the licensed telecom operators for implementing this initiative," the statement added.
