The Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation and China's Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation have signed a memorandum of understanding to become strategic partners.
The agreement will help promote an exchange of talent and ideas between the two cities, and encourage innovation in robotics, the Internet of Things and other services. The partnership will include "hackathons", investment proposals and start-up networking.
"The Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation is keen to support innovation and entrepreneurship by building partnerships with innovative companies and cities - especially those (that) are active in design and innovation in sectors of strategic importance to the UAE, to promote its leading position as a regional and global centre for latest technologies, innovations and successful practices," said Saif Al Aleeli, CEO, the foundation.
"We are looking forward to attracting innovative new start-ups and technological proof-of-concepts. Shenzhen is the leading centre for creative manufacturing in the world," he added. "Almost every single new innovative device and product on the market is made or designed in Shenzhen. This partnership gives us direct access to the most creative hardware ideas on the planet."
Shenzhen in Southern China is one of the world's most creative manufacturing centres. Over the past 10 years, it has become a powerhouse of creativity, innovation and design. The city is currently home to many of China's most innovative companies, including DJI Robotics, the maker of bestselling commercial drones; the AI and search giant Baidu; and BGI, the world's largest genetic research facility.
