WhatsApp has officially begun rolling out a new profile tab called ‘You’ to iOS users, replacing the traditional Settings tab in the bottom-right corner of the app.
The update, included in version 16.5.10.73 on the App Store, marks a shift in how users manage their accounts within the app.
The new ‘You’ tab opens a redesigned profile page where users can manage their account, control personal information, and customise how they appear on the platform.
Instead of the standard gear icon, the tab now displays the user’s profile photo, making it easier to quickly identify which account is currently active.
The update is widely seen as an early step towards multi-account functionality, something parent company Meta has been testing for some time.
The approach mirrors other Meta platforms like Instagram and Threads, where profile pictures replace generic icons when users manage multiple accounts.
By highlighting the active account visually, WhatsApp aims to make account switching more intuitive and seamless.
Alongside the new tab, WhatsApp is also testing a refreshed profile layout. Some users can see a default cover photo at the top of their profile, adding a more personalised and visually distinct header.
However, the feature is still limited; Only a small number of users currently have access and the cover photo cannot yet be customised. Additional profile enhancements are expected in future updates.
As with many WhatsApp updates, the new ‘You’ tab is being rolled out gradually, meaning not all users will see it immediately. Feature availability may vary, and some users are still waiting on previous updates.
