At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Vivo gave the world its first look at the upcoming Vivo X300 Ultra. The first impression is that it is a smartphone that looks like a pro camera.
According to a report in Mashable Middle East, a towering 400mm lens can be paired with a confirmed 200-megapixel telephoto sensor on the device, delivering roughly 17.3x optical zoom.
Vivo leaned heavily into the filmmaking narrative at MWC. Inside its booth, the brand set up a mini studio where attendees could test the X300 Ultra inside a professional camera rig. In many cases, the phone was displayed mounted in the rig rather than on its own.
The optional rig includes a cooling fan, a grip for better handling, and a cold shoe mount for microphones or lighting. It effectively transforms the smartphone into a compact cinema setup, aimed at content creators who want mobility without sacrificing zoom reach.
Even without the accessories, however, the sheer size of the lens housing makes the device stand out, though it may not be the most pocket-friendly smartphone around.
200MP telephoto and extreme optical zoom
While Vivo has not officially launched the X300 Ultra yet, meaning full specifications remain under wraps, the confirmed 200MP telephoto camera is already generating buzz.
The 400mm focal length translates to approximately 17.3x optical zoom, positioning the device among the most ambitious camera phones currently in development. Such reach could appeal to wildlife shooters, sports videographers and creators who want DSLR-like framing flexibility without carrying additional gear.
Vivo confirmed that the X300 Ultra will officially launch in China later this month, with a global release expected in April. Pricing details have not yet been disclosed.
