Apple’s iPhone colour strategy could be shifting in a big way. According to a new report from Bloomberg, the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max may arrive in bolder shades than usual, including a striking deep red.
Historically, Apple has reserved vibrant colours for its standard iPhone models, while Pro variants have leaned towards muted finishes like graphite, silver and titanium tones. However, the reported popularity of the Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro Max — particularly in China — is said to be influencing Apple’s direction.
Bloomberg claims Apple is now testing a deep red finish for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. The company is also believed to be retaining the popular orange look introduced previously.

There have been suggestions of purple or brown options in development, but the report indicates these may actually be variations of red currently being evaluated internally.
What about the iPhone Fold?
The rumoured iPhone Fold is not expected to follow the brighter colour trend. Instead, it will reportedly launch in more conservative finishes, either black or dark grey, and white or light silver. These colour predictions align with earlier reports about Apple’s foldable device strategy, which appears focused on premium, understated aesthetics.
Latest reports suggest that the foldable iPhone will arrive alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models. If all goes according to plan, Apple could unveil its first foldable flagship alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup in September.
