Since its introduction, Apple’s AirTag has become one of the most popular ways to keep track of everyday essentials; from keys and wallets to backpacks and luggage. Powered by the vast Find My network, AirTag has helped millions of users around the world reunite with misplaced belongings.

Now, Apple has introduced a new generation of AirTag that pushes tracking accuracy and range even further, while adding new features aimed squarely at frequent travellers and Apple Watch users.

Second-generation ultra wideband brings extended precision finding

At the heart of the new AirTag is Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip — the same advanced technology found in the iPhone 17 lineup, iPhone Air, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and Apple Watch Series 11.

This upgraded chip significantly enhances Precision Finding, allowing users to locate items from up to 1.5x farther away than the previous generation. The increased range means directional guidance kicks in much earlier, making it easier to find lost items in large spaces such as airports, parking lots, or busy public areas.

Precision Finding continues to offer visual, audio, and haptic feedback, guiding users directly to their AirTag with impressive accuracy.

Upgraded bluetooth chip improves everyday tracking

Alongside UWB improvements, the new AirTag also features an upgraded Bluetooth chip. This expands the distance at which items can be located and allows users to play sounds on their AirTag from farther away, particularly useful when searching around the home or office.

Louder speaker and new chime make AirTag easier to hear

Apple has completely re-engineered the AirTag’s internal speaker system, delivering a 50 per cent louder speaker compared to the previous generation. As a result, users can hear their AirTag from up to 2x farther away than before.

The AirTag also introduces a new, distinctive chime that’s easier to recognise, making it simpler to locate items hidden under blankets, inside bags, or in another room.

Precision Finding comes to Apple Watch

For the first time, Precision Finding is available directly on the Apple Watch. Users with an Apple Watch Series 9 or later, or Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, can now locate their AirTag straight from their wrist — no need to pull out an iPhone.

The experience mirrors Precision Finding on iPhone, complete with familiar haptic cues, visual guidance, and audio feedback. The feature requires watchOS 26.2.1 or later.

This addition is particularly useful for quick searches at home, the gym, or while travelling.

Share Item Location helps with lost luggage

Apple is also continuing to expand Share Item Location, a Find My feature designed to help recover misplaced items by securely sharing their location with trusted third parties.

This feature is especially valuable for travellers. Users can temporarily share the location of a lost AirTag-equipped item, such as delayed luggage, with participating airline customer service teams.

Apple has partnered with 36 airlines globally that currently support Share Item Location, with an additional 15 airlines expected to join in the future. The shared location links are private, secure, and automatically expire.

Pricing and availability in the UAE

The new AirTag is now available to order via apple.com and the Apple Store app, with in-store availability at Apple Store locations later this week. It will also be sold through Apple Authorised Resellers across the UAE.

Pricing remains unchanged:

  • Single AirTag: Dh129

  • Four-pack: Dh439

Customers can also add a free personalised engraving when ordering through apple.com or the Apple Store app.
