ABU DHABI - Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Member of the Executive Council and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, yesterday opened the three-day 'Sudan Investment Economic Forum', being held at General Exhibition Centre (GEC) in the capital.
He said that UAE-Sudan economic relations will continue to grow and he hoped that the forum would be a first step towards a broader Economic bloc which will revitalise trade and business activity in the Arab World. He said regional trade would build bonds of friendship and brotherhood. He said: "I hope this gathering will be a step towards an economic bloc to meet the developmental needs of the people of our two countries. This forum is centred on the economic policies of the UAE under the visionary leadership of the President, His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan".
Zubair Ahmed Al Hassan, Minister of Finance & Economy, Sudan, said: "We are proud of our friendly relationship with the UAE which are deep-rooted in history, and the leadership of both the countries endeavour to reach ultimate heights to meet the expectations of our Arab and Muslim nation.
He added that during last year's Forum held in Sudan, the UAE's high level delegation saw the achievements of the manufacturing sector which stood as evidence to the joint Arab efforts in various industrial sectors.
