Spanish delegation praises Dubai Techno Park project

DUBAI - A high level industrial delegation headed by Jose Antonio Medina, Vice-President of International Desalination Association and President of Spanish Desalination and Water Reuse Association and representatives of three leading Spanish and gulf companies in desalination field praised the Techno Park project in Dubai while they discussed in the industrial technology field especially desalination.

Abdullah Ahmed Al Qurashi, Executive Director of the Techno Park met the delegation and took them in a tour to the Techno Park location in Jebel Ali and presents the park's activities and facilities that aims to ensure technological creative environment and make chances for specialised companies in the fields of water desalination, gas, oil and environment and research and development centres for these fields to find markets that able to use its ideas to develop the future works.

He also presented the Techno Park activities that include creation, researches, training, laboratories, engineering and production and concern on the environmental and oil issues noting that the techno park is a member at the International Techno Parks Association based in Spain.

Al Qurashi said that the Techno Park gave its initial approve for three companies to join the park and establish its headquarters and work through it they are: Codesa, one of the leading Spanish desalination company and Sociedad Anonima Depuration Tratamientos (SADYT) in Murcia, Spain and United Technology For Trading in Saudi Arabia.

He added that Techno Park business focuses on developing and manufacturing water desalination stations and research centers affiliated to it as well as manufacturing and gathering gas and oil equipments and environment research centres.

Al Qurashi said that the park was able in a short period to coordinate and communicate with several techno parks in the world. Techno Park will attract many local international and regional companies that Dubai will ensure suitable environment for them to produce their techniques in different fields and will announce soon new companies determining to join the park in several fields.

More than half of the world's desalination projects are being setup in the Gulf and in the next 20 years the region will see investment of more than $30 billion in desalination and water treatment projects. In the UAE alone the requirement for desalted water is estimated to double in the next ten years.
