Solidarity wins Islamic Finance award

DUBAI — Solidarity, one of the largest Takaful companies in the world, was honored at the Islamic Finance Awards held in Dubai to celebrate excellence in Islamic Finance.

A total of 28 awards were given away during the course of the evening, with Solidarity exclusively winning the 'Global Continuing Contribution to the Takaful Industry' award for 2005.

The Islamic Finance Awards was held at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai, and was attended by senior members of UAE's royal families and top executives from the Islamic Finance industry.

In attendance from Bahrain was Shaikh Salman bin Ahmed Al Khalifa representing the Bahrain Monetary Agency (BMA).

Accepting the award on behalf of Solidarity from Shaikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Director- General of Dubai Department of Information, was Sameer Al Wazzan, CEO, Solidarity.

"We are extremely honored to have received this award which is an endorsement of the successful year we have had and the growth we have achieved. In 2005 Solidarity expanded into key international markets. This year we hope to further increase our global presence," said Sameer Al Wazzan, CEO, Solidarity.

"The Takaful industry has become a global phenomenon and is continuing to grow rapidly. As a company, Solidarity has always strived to strategically educate the public on the principles of Takaful. As such, it is rewarding for us to be recognized for our contribution to the industry," Al Wazzan concluded. The Islamic Finance Awards was held during the ninth IIFF.
